I love creating green or eco chic fashion. One of my favorite things to do is take something unloved and discover a new and exciting style hiding there!
One thing I sometimes do is take a roomy, dull looking dress and cut it up. The maxi dresses from the late 80s are great for this. Usually there is a lot of fabric. I'll cut the dress off below the armholes and add a stretchy piece to hold it up. You wind up with a strapless dress that can be belted. I also like cutting up longer garments and using the excess fabric for trim.
When you see something you like the fabric and it is actually big enough or bigger than you, take time to re- envision it. You might find something awesome!
